Emily Billiau

Principal at McInnes Wilson Lawyers

I am a Principal at McInnes Wilson Lawyers, having joined the firm in 2011. I have extensive experience in insurance litigation and dispute resolution, and enjoy working on complex and challenging claims.

Having worked in a number of practice areas, I was drawn to the Personal Services by the complex and diverse array of claims and the challenges they each pose.

The consequences of events on my client’s lives can be significant - each case is an opportunity for me to improve the lives of my clients and their families. I get satisfaction knowing that I have made a difference in their lives.

I have a particular interest in birth trauma claims and claims involving traumatic brain injuries. I have a passion for cycling and respresenting cyclists on our roads.

I am passionately associated with Brain Injury Australia and the Brain Injury Foundation. I have worked closely with Queensland's preeminent cycling organisation, Bicycle Queensland, proudly for almost 9 years now.

Prior to joining the personal services team at McInnes Wilson Lawyers, I practiced across a variety of areas of law including:-
■ General and commercial litigation;
■ Commercial law;
■ Family Law, including child support matters;
■ Wills and Estates;
■ Property law (commercial and residential);
■ Workplace and employment law;
■ Environment and planning law;
■ Recovery proceedings.

I have proudly been named as a leading motor vehicle accident compensation lawyer in the Doyle's Guide 3 years in a row for my work in the space. I have also been named as a leading public liability compensation lawyer con the Doyle's Guide 3 years in a row for my work in that space.

"Advocating for women who have experienced birth trauma allows me to blend my legal knowledge with compassion, working towards justice for those who have suffered trauma at one of life’s most significant events. It is the stories of these women who trust us to assist them in their claim which makes work like this so fulfilling."
